Prayers of Safety for our Loves
“Aurore, time to say your prayers.” Aurore danced into her room with her ruffled nightgown swaying. She kissed Mommy and climbed into bed. After being tucked in ‘as snug as a bug in a rug’, Aurore held onto her favorite dolly, clasped her pudgy hands together and bowed her head. Her rosy red lips pouted as Aurore said, “Pray it with me, Mommy.” As Mommy knelt beside the bed and wrapped her hands around Aurore’s, she began, “Now I lay me down to sleep.” Aurore joined in, “I pray the Lord my soul to keep. May the angels watch me through the night and keep me in their blessed sight. Amen.” Mommy kissed Aurore on the forehead and said goodnight. A sleepy Aurore yawned out a return, “Goodnight, Mommy, I love you.” Later in her own room, Mommy climbed into bed, tucked herself in, then bowed her head. Mommy prayed, “Lord, thank you for your blessings. Please keep Aurore’s father safe while he is defending what he knows is right in battle. Please keep all the families safe that are caught in the crossfires. If they have been separated, please reunite them. Thank you, God, for your love and provision in our lives. Amen.”
