A Simple Beauty
Having an interesting name such as Caedryn, one would think she must be an immense beauty, but alas, her whole life, Caedryn had been plain. Not one to consider her looks, Caedryn poured over books of history and art. One could often find the young Miss Caedryn with her nanny and her son, Caedryn’s childhood playmate, visiting the art museum or library. As Caedryn grew, she was expected to come out into society, but society seemed less inviting than her history and art. To the whole of society, Caedryn was rather an odd bird, so while they looked on in perplexed fascination, a desire to begin an acquaintance eluded them. So, day after day, Caedryn sat in the drawing room awaiting callers, but she never received any cards. So to the museums she would retreat, back to her place of solace. Yet now it was filled with aching loneliness. Her nanny and playmate now long gone, she wandered the hallowed halls alone. One day, during her dreaded time in the drawing room, she heard a knock upon the outer door. As the butler came in and presented her with a card, her heart filled to the brim. As the drawing room doors opened to him, she rushed into his open arms. You see, he was in her life again. The other half she had long been missing. Her long lost playmate was no longer the lad he had been. Now a self-made man, he had come to claim the unknown jewel of society to be his companion and love forevermore.
