The design, from the 1500's, was found in Charles Demengeot's 1881 book, Dictionnaire Chiffre-Monogramme, published in Paris, France. This piece is modeled after the pressmark of Parisian printer, Simon De Colines (1480-1546). As one of the first printers of the French Renaissance, he worked exclusively for the University of Paris from 1520 to 1546.  Over the span of his lifetime he also worked as an editor, publisher, and punchcutter. De Colines published over 700 separate editions using rabbits ,satyrs, and philosophers as pressmarks. The Parisian Pressmark bracelet features our sterling silver and gold bonded chain with a large lobster clasp.
