Description
This stunning 1938 French Dog Show Award Medal was made by French sculptor and WWI veteran, George Contaux (1891-1984). The Bloodhound is believed to be a direct descendent of St. Hubert's hound, which dates back to the 700's in Europe. In 1066, William the Conqueror, is credited with bringing these canines to England. These were some of the earliest pure-breed dogs, kept by Church dignitaries in carefully bred packs. Today Bloodhounds assist law enforcement as well as search and rescue efforts. Best of all we recognize this beautiful breed for sleeping on our porches.
