This stunning British Twopence coin dates back to the 18th century. This short lived denomination in copper was only minted by The Matthew Boulton Soho Mint in 1797. It was then in1797, to alleviate the silver shortage, the government authorized Boulton to strike copper pennies and twopence at the mint in Birmingham. George III ( George William Fredrick, June 4, 1738 - January 29, 1820) was king of Great Britain and King of Ireland from 1760-1801. The striking lion and fleur-de-lis with its beautiful detail located on the back of the Twopence coin while George III is on the front. A perfect piece of history for any gentleman’s collection.
