This piece was modeled after a 1778 coin that bears the Cyrillic monogram of Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia and the longest-ruling female leader.  A decorative border was placed on the sterling silver pendant to add emphasis to the monogram.  It comes with an attached detailed sterling silver bale.  Catherine's story is a great conversation piece when the pendant is worn.  She was Polish and not Russian and arranged for the overthrow of her husband. Once done, she was proclaimed the sole ruler.  An interesting addition to your jewelry collection that can be worn on any occasion.
