This precious Cocker Spaniel was designed by French sculptor and medalist Jean Auguste Barre (September 25, 1811- February 5, 1896).  Barre was  trained by his father, and later studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Jean-Pierre Cortot.  These loved dog belong to two breeds, the American Cocker Spaniel and the originally bred as hunting dogs in the United Kingdom.
