An excellent example of a royal's Victorian monogram, this beautiful piece features the monogram of the Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyle, sixth child and fourth daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. An artist and sculptor in her own right, the "LL" is a classic two letter monogram with one being the mirror image of the "L". Lynda found the monogram on the epaulet of Louise’s regiment. Unusual for her time, Louise was a strong supporter of the arts and higher education for all. The monogram is featured on a butterfly which are are deep and powerful representations of life. Many cultures associate the butterfly with our souls. The Christian religion sees the butterfly as a symbol of resurrection. Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope, and life.
